If you cannot explain it simply, you do not understand it well enough. The Feynman Technique is the most reliable self-test for understanding. PROTOCOL: 1. Choose the concept. Define its boundaries. 2. Teach it to a novice. Plain language. No jargon. Use an analogy. 3. Identify the gap. Any hand-wavy phrase, skipped step, or missing example = learning target. 4. Return to source material for the gap section only. 5. Simplify to essence: one paragraph, one sentence, one word. VERIFICATION: - Explain without notes? If not, you relied on the notes. - Answer 'what if' questions? If not, mental model is incomplete. - Draw it without labels? Strongest verification. OUTPUT: Teach-back narrative, identified gaps, simplified essence, what-if QA log.
